Should I apply to Cal Poly as a computer science major or a software engineer major?

I would rather do software engineering but I only have a 26 ACT score and Im pretty sure its harder to get into software engineering. Or am I wrong?

You should apply based on what you want to do. CS is the more theoretical degree. You will learn more about algorithms and computability in CS. SE covers most of the theory in CS but adds software engineering methodology, software life cycle and project management, Since CS and SE are generally in the same department I wouldn’t expect much disparity in requirements.
