What are tips on becoming a good kisser?

it may not be that your a bad kisser, has he ever kissed anyone before? Perhaps he is just used to a certain style of kissing. Everyone is different therefor everyone kisses differently.

Try something different from whatever your doing,I.e if your kissing too deeply, pull back a bit.. or just ask him how he likes to be kissed.

Move very slowly it is one of the best way to prevent head-butting, make sure your very passionate about your partner.
