what are robots?

im doing a project on them for tech ed and it would help if I new what they were. like do cars or a toaster and stuff like that count as a robotic or no?

O_o this might sound like stupid advice but you would get a clearer answer if you searched robot on wikipedia… im pretty sure theres a thorough explanation in there.

toaster is not a robot. a robot is something that performs a physical task after running a series of data. A robot could be something like a machine that cuts shapes out of metal after getting the data points from a computer. A robot would be the thing that screws lids onto jars in a factory.

a toaster is a machine that does something because that’s what it does mechanically. you push a lever, it gets hot, when it gets hot enough it pops.
