Why do watermelons have both black and white seeds, and what is the difference?

Answer #1

Watermelons have two different colored seeds because the blacks ones are the mature seeds which could be used to plant them and grow new watermelons while the white ones are the immature ones which will mature into black ones over time. The white seeds are very soft because they dont have a very hard outerlayer while the black are not and so you cannot digest those.

I always thought as a little kid that the black seeds were the “adult” seeds and the white ones were the “baby” seeds. I have noo idea if thats corrrect or not, lol.

Answer #3
