Why do I keep wanting new animals?

Okay… i don’t want to sound like a hoarder or anything because i know i’m not. But why do i keep wanting new animals? I had 9 mice (pets not feeders), and i decided so my mice could have more attention and care i’d cut down to 5 mice. =] Well i love rabbits and want more. I have 7 of them. I rescued two of them from a rabbit-mill, three from a breeder, one from a petstore, and one from left outside in the middle of winter abandoned. Don’t get me wrong i redid a chicken coop for them its AC’d and heated. I spayed and neutered all of them. I have each rabbit in its own cage 5ft by 5ft. With woodchip floor cleaned once a week. I spend 3-4 hours with them all daily, and allow them in outside run on grass about 1 hour each a day 15ft by 30 ft… i spend the same amount with each whether new or old. Why do i want more always though? Am i doing the right thing?

You seem like a good pet owner. I’m guessing they probably give you comfort , or you just reeeeaaally like animals. I don’t thin you should get more , in my opinion. I think you just like the feeling of getting a new animal. It’s fun , exciting , and makes you happy.

It’s like a fix.. You get like a high when you buy new chlothes or shoes. Well it was the same for me, I would get more animals and fish until I realized the problem..

Well a friend of mine said to me when I asked her why she has so many animals and continues to get more, that whenever she gets clucky, she goes and buys another animal. Maybe that’s why you keep wanting new animals, to feel the comfort of a new thing you can hold and look after like her?
