Vaginal itching before menstruation?

Vaginal itching before menstruation? I have had this problem for years. I just figured it was normal. No matter what I do I itch. I wash with water twice daily to try and avoid the itch, but it seems unavoidable. This happens every month around that time. Anyone have any answers as to why this happens and how to stop it?

yes, I also hve that too… it itches just before my first flow of blood! really itchy near the vagina opening.. I started to think it was the first bit of dry blood that flowed and dried up in ther before the real flow starts??? also, my vagina is drier before and during my period.. I cant get lubricated so I think it is also due to that… someone said that estrogen levels right before the first day.. cause a mini growth of yeaast which subsides when you start bleeding and the estrogen drops… anyway lots of people on here feel that pre-itch.. be sure to get checked for HSV and HPV anyway.. it is always good for the obgyn to culture any itch.. if no insurance go toplanned parenthoood or your local nonprofit womens clinic of community health dept and they wil check you out under the guise of a STD check which is done at community halth clinics call

This is the type of thing you must talk to your doctor about, as while it could be something common & non serious, only a doctor can advise you of the potential risks if it’s something worse that a simple recurring itch. Get yourself checked out, you’ll be happy you did!

I told my doctor about it because it almost feels like a yeast infection, but there is no discharge or anything. It just gets very sensitive and itches like crazy. She told me to get Boric Acid capsules and take two a day vaginally for a week, or less if the symptoms stop. She said you can also open a capsule and rub some of the powder where it itches. Instead of paying $40.00 for the pills-not covered by insurance, I got some Boric Acid on Amazon.. Get the stuff -for- vaginal use, not the stronger kind to kill roaches, of course. Get empty size 0 gel caps and make your own. Costs around ten dollars. Just put two in at night and wha-lah!

I’m thinking this is normal. I itch really bad a few days before my period and as soon as I get it the itching stops. I don’t have discharge and I don’t really notice an odor. I told my mom about this because I thought it might have been a yeast infection and she said “oh yea I used to get that way too right before I started my period.” but it’s annoying. try using some vagisil or try keep yourself lubricated down there. that seems to help a little.
