Ultrasound

My gynecologist recently recommended that I have an ultrasound. I’ve been having severe abdominal pain and some extreme dysfunctional uterine bleeding. That time of the month sucks for me since I had my son. ANYWAYS- the need for me to have an ultrasound to rule out any tumors or other abnormalities was necessary. It turned up an 1.5 inch long by 1 inch wide hemorrhagic cyst on my right ovary; hence the pain. Now my insurance company, which already requires practically a blood sacrifice from my paycheck every 2 weeks, is saying that I have to pay the entire $265 for the 5 minute ultrasound. How do I fight this? Do I just tell them no? Do I get like some explanation from my doctor to give them about why this was necessary for a non-pregnant woman? I can’t afford all of this. My son has been sick and his medicine is expensive. Do I have any means to fight this?

Thank you; but I no longer qualify for government aid as I ‘make too much money’. So I get to be tapped out to the maximum because I make $86 too much a month. :) It’s ok though- I talked to them and I have six months to pay it off; plus the doctor’s office will re-bill at a lower number for me and hopefully they can work it out between them and leave me paying a lesser amount.

I do no tknow of your financial position, but if it is like the rest of us out here, yopu might be able to get assistance from the state, my parents and I could make up to 1900 a month between the three of us, and still get medical help, and $365 in foodstamps, good luck and hope you and your baby feel better soon!!!

Ugh… thanks. :) I’ll try to file the complaint or work out a payment plan. Otherwise it’s got to come out of Mommy’s grocery allotment for the month.

You can put in a complaint but other than that there is nothing you can do to make them cover it. If they say that is not something that counts in your insurance you can’t make them change the policy.

unfortunately no not really, I dont want to go to deep into the subject of health care in America because it angers me but in your case that 265 probably saved your life think about that when you look at your boy. im sorry if I could fix everyone’s issues with insurance companies I would I hate them. your only option are to not pay it and get sent to collections or hire an attorney which is also expensive just pay it a little at a time and be thankful your not dead and that it didnt turn out to be cancer ;) again sorry
