Can somebody translate this absolutely correctly for me from German to English?

Ahh, it’s from an English quote that I really like, and I translated it on Google translator to German, but I don’t really trust it, lol. Thanks, though!

To, my understanding, it translates in a manner that if it was directly translated into English it wouldn’t make sense. I think its saying We wanted to change the world, but in end (we were the only thing that changed when we were trying to change the world)

Thats not what it translates into exactly, but that is what that quote means to my understanding.

Good idea. But, the quote in English says, “We wanted to change the world, but in the end only ended up changing ourselves.” and I kinda wanted the direct translation in German, but I guess there is none. As long as it makes sense, it doesn’t matter to me, lol.

I think what you have is right, but when I translated it, it came out different. im fairly sure ourselves isnt a German word.

Your translation is not 100% correct German. Because it misses an article in the second part of the sentence. And the word order is odd. Put the verb as the last word of the sentence.

Also the term “in the end…” is a little awkward in German if translated literally.

change Wir wollten die Welt verändern, aber am Ende nur verändert uns.

into Wir wollten die Welt verändern, aber letztendlich hat sie uns verändert.
