too much carbs

Okay, so I’ve been told to lose weight. I run, I jog, I run up and down the stairs, I hike, and I recently started jump roping. But I just realize that I eat too much carbs. Especially bread, potato and rice. So like, if you can tell me, exactly what I should eat everyday, that’d be great.

I suggest visiting a nutritionist. He/she will be able to give you your exact height, weight and percent fat. You can both set some goals together and the nutritionist will make sure you are getting enough calories, protein, calcium and carbs. Remember that fruits are carbs too. One sentence of advice: Eat breakfast everyday and make sure it is rich in protein, not carbs. People who have carbs for breakfast (pancakes or oatmeal) usually eat more during the day. People who have a breakfast of protein (eggs or yogurt) eat less during the day and feel lighter. Good luck! Peace

Carbs are the body’s preferred fuel. Carbs got a bad wrap durring the Atkin’s craze.

If you are eating 100% whole wheat bread and brown rice these are in fact very healthy. Of course too much of anything is going to keep you from loosing weight.

Potatoes are an interesting subject. On one hand they have a high glycemic index which is bad but on the other hand themselves they are not high in calories. A 1 lb potato only has 300 calories. If you are eating your potatoes baked, steamed, or boiled and without butter, gravy, oil, etc than you probably couldn’t eat enough potatoes in a day to gain weight. It is what people put on potatoes that make them fattening.

The best website I found for tracking what you eat is sparkpeople. Give that a look.
