Telling Our Parents

Ok I am getting some help for my friend who is currently dating his 2nd cousin. after some “investigation” I found that not only is it legal… its accually geneticly safer!. while many people frown upon it (there is no need to though!) some people are marrying there 1st cousins legally!!! now he wants to know:

  1. Should he tell his parents?
  2. if yes, then what should he say?
  3. is it a good idea to tell people, or should it be more secretive?

If he’s planning to continue in a relationship with her, then he’s going to have to tell them eventually - best to be honest…tell them the truth, and if they seem upset about it, make sure they understand that it’s legal and safe.

It may take time for them to accept it, but in the end, a secret relationship is never worth it…tell people.

ok, im in the same boat as your friend. im secretly in love with my second cousin and I know that he likes me too. he hasnt tried anything but I can tell by the way he acts around me. I really wouldnt mind dating him but I dont think I could ever tell my parents because they’re really conservative. so what I would do is not tell them. If you feel like they wont approve or they’ll make a deal about it, dont tell. but if you think they wont be bothered by it, then go for it. good luck.
