Why did he wait until the last day of camp to ask me out?

well last summer I liked a guy and he also liked him maybe like the 3rd or 4th day. I have liked him since last summer which was 06 and he finally liked me. we flirted a lot and he put his arm around me and stuff and I was falling for him even more we went to overnight camp for 6 weeks and I went home for the weekend because I havent seen my parents and friends and when I came bak he was going out with my bff and I was crying and everything and he broke up with her that day he said he didnt want to ruin my friends and I friendship. but he lieked me on the last day we had a dj/dance and this guy goes up to me and says to you like him (not saying his name) and I was liek why he said that he liekd me and I didnt believe him because hes known as a liar but he relle did like me! so it was the last day and my mom wrote to me that she was going to come around 12:30 maybee and she came around 11:45 she said I can say goodbye to all my other friends that werent in my cabin but I didnt. I should of. about 5-10 minutes later he was looking for me to ask me out!!! why the last day tho? if any of the people that answer this question and what do you think I can do this year to get him to like me again since im pretty much the only good looking girl the first 2 weeks untill my friends come. Flirt obviously but liek how I dont want to over do it I know how tho thanks to who ever answers this!!
