Sinus infection? Or slow bleed?

So.. about 8 weeks ago I got bucked off my horse and hit the back of my head on hard ground. Had a headache for a couple hours and then it was gone.

8 weeks goes by, no headaches, nothing. Then a few days ago I started getting all this pressure in my head, and my back has been irritating me. Been kind of sensitive to bright light and have generally been more lethargic than usual. My mom’s friend is a doctor, and after talking to her about it she said it sounded suspicious, and that it might even be a slow bleed (cranial hemorrhage) because sometimes it can take up to 12 weeks to show symptoms.

Of course then I freaked out, which is hard for me to do. I hate hospitals and am really stubborn when it comes to injuries. However, I went to the ER last night and got checked out. They didn’t do a CT scan or any kind of scan, but after talking to the doctor he said it sounds like a frontal sinus infection. I have never had a sinus infection before, and I haven’t been sick in a long time. I had some allergies act up for a couple days about a week or two ago but that’s it. I don’t have any headaches, no congestion, none of that. Just pressure in my head. Does this sound right?

Basically, I’m asking if you can have a sinus infection without any other signs. I’m relieved that he said it didn’t sound like a slow bleed, but I’m still slightly uncertain. I know you guys aren’t doctors on here but maybe those of you who have had sinus infections before can help me out a little, cause I’m a bit lost.

Thanks!

Thanks.

Well, the pressure isn’t in the back of my head. I know I hit the back of my head when I fell but that’s not where the pressure is. It’s mostly in the front and a little on the sides. I am going to get a second opinion though.

I’m with ichi on this one…I’ve had tons of sinus infections, none of which affected the back of my head…bending over should give you the feeling that a bowling ball just rolled to the front of your face…

The CT scan would not only do your head, but your neck, too…that should also be a concern…people do walk around for weeks with broken necks and not even know it.

I’ve never had a sinus infection that just came with pressure in the head. I really think you should have a CT scan done, just to be safe…

I’ve had sinus infections… these were my symptoms: frontal headache dizziness pressure

You should probably get a second opinion just to be safe. A young girl here fell and hit her head, and although she showed no signs of problems, she was found dead a few weeks later.
