What gets shellac out of fabric?

A old jar of Shellac just exploded all over my new dress :| Does anything get shellac out of fabric? I’m not holding high hopes but I just thought I’d ask.

Answer #1

Yikes….not good. If it’s still wet, you can use methylated spirits on a cotton ball to dab it out, but odds of you just happening to have that on hand is slim. You can try dabbing a little paint thinner on it, but depending on the material, that may cause more harm than good.

Answer #2

1.get a cotton wool rag and moisten it with methylated spirits 2.dab the stain with rag. 3.go over the spot with a soapy cloth 4.if the fabric is washable toss it into the washer immediatley if not continue blotting the cloth with the rag until dry. i do not know if this is what you were looking for but it is off a website sooo…….

Answer #3

Off a website - you need to cite your source or else it’s plagiarism.

Answer #4

Shellac can be very brittle especially when cold. If solvents (suitable for use on the particular fabric) are not successful, try putting the item in the freezer for a while, then fold the fabric and roll it between your fingers to encourage the shellac to fracture and separate from the fibres.

Answer #7
