Should I put no gift required?

my guests are going to have to pay $10 for parking and $5 for each person to enter the swimming pool. plus the drive is an hour long. DO you think they would mind paying all that? Also in the invitation should I put “gift isn’t required”? & do you think it’ll be tacky giving back the $10 after the party? tell me what you think.

  1. Should you put ‘no gift required’? That’s entirely up to you. I’d probably put something along the lines of “Gift is optional.” so that they can decide.
  2. Should you pay them $10 to come to the party? No. If they are guests to your party, they are going there because they want to be there. It’s not up to you to reimburse them for their expenses. Is it generous? Yes. Necessary? No.Tacky? Slightly.
  3. Do I think they’ll mind paying all that? Some might, others won’t. You could suggest they carpool to save on expenses, or that a few who can’t drive down go in the car with you?

Also, if you are handing out invitations, putting the cost details down for people on the invitation may be a good idea. This way they aren’t surprised when they go down there.

I think you’ll look desperate if you give them the $10 back. How about you write on the invite, please bring $15 for parking and pool entry, but rest assured drinks and nibbles are provided for everyone!.. and you supply coke/drinks and chips and pizza or something.

You could write Gifts are not expected but always appreciated, or something nice like that. Many teens don’t really have enough money to buy anything good and really useful anyway, and since they do have to pay the $15 for the parking and pool… but yeah, your good friends will get you something so thats all good :)
