punish them, whenever our dog does something we make him stay in his room and take away his bones and toys then he wont do it again

When every he bites you, say “Ouch!” and make a sad face. Then he thinks he did something bad. Also, when he starts biting, he is also teething, replace your body parts with one of his toys, so he will bite on that.

At this age it is natural and normal. I like both tricks…Making a “you hurt me noise”, just as another pup would make…this teaching them to control the pressure with which to bite…AND replacing your body part with something else.

Both these pups still have needle teeth…they don’t start losing them until 16 weeks, and that in itself makes the biting hurt worse than it will down the road.

Getting up and walking out of the room…even to the point of going to a room with a door where you can shut them out (basically shunning them), also works (tho you can only stay in there for 3 to 5 minutes, or they’ll forget all about you)…shutting them up in a room by themselves can only work if you get them out in 3 to 5 mintues…puppies have a VERY short attention span.
