Is enough being done to prevent another death from the use of synthetic marijuana?

A 13 year old boy died after using synthetic marijuana, so do you think there needs to be a more effective stand against the drug or do you think it was it a 1 in a million risk? http://funadvice.com/r/15gbiiiib9o

Answer #1

My cousin got hooked on it. I see dozens of people ruining their lives because of it. It’s just as harmful in the long run as meth and coke. Ban all drug$, synthetic or no.

Answer #2

Yepp.. Drug$ should all be banned.. Synthetic or not!

Answer #3

Let synthetic marijuana be out there. It doesn’t fund the drug cartels of Mexico. I’d rather have people on dr.ugs then people on dr.ugs and a mafia oppressing Mexico.

Only stupid people do dr.ugs anyway. It’s their fault if they get addicted or in debt or go hungry or ruin there life or forfeit their life. I have no pity. People make choices, they may live with the consequences.

Answer #4

I think legalizing natural marijuana would put an end to many of the issues brought about because of the refusal to legalize the real thing. The drug cartels of Mexico would be out of the marijuana business, Tax dollars wouldn’t be spent filling up jails and prisons, and people wouldn’t be as tempted to experiment with other alternative highs that hospitalize and kill everyday. If you look at the state of legal pharmaceutical drug usage …more people are hospitalized and die from that usage then real pot.

Answer #5

The way our laws work is that specific substances are banned. When products like this are made the active ingredients have to be isolated and banned individually. This takes time.

Answer #6

Since the synthetic product appears to be far more dangerous than the natural one wouldn’t it be more reasonable to legalize natural marijuana? This reminds me of kids who huff gasoline, glue, or paint because they can not get other recreational substances. Huffing solvents is far more harmful and dangerous than most illegal recreational substances.

Answer #7

My point exactly. It likely won’t eliminate the problem entirely as kids/teens still would not be able to purchase it. But they may spend more time figuring out how to get their hands on the real thing then coming up with these dangerous alternative highs.

Answer #8

I agree. Natural is better. Man made is worse. Like alcohal. have no idea why that is legal and pot isnt. Its a much better choice. Everythng in moderation. It is rediculas that they just dont legalize the natural stuff. they would rather risk lives. yes its stupid to do any dr.ug but people will so might as well make it safer

Answer #9

Hmm..that makes sense.. I never thought of it dat way.. I guess I just see some kids sniffing glue and hate it.. Aahhh.. The problems of the world.. :/

Answer #10

The same held true of the proabition era. When alcohol was illegal there was more poison being created and sold and consequently deaths. Granted alcohol today is it’s own beast in the abuse of it but nobody is making/selling bathtub gin these days because there are no takers.

Answer #11

That can only go so far,. Its ok to legalize weed and alcohal to make it safer but not other Dr.gs such as coke or meth. that would be too far

Answer #12

The problem is not that specific substances are dangerous, but that people feel some compulsion to turn to substances for pleasure and think that pleasure is equal to happiness.

Answer #13

I agree Angel… Coke and Meth are far too destructive and addictive to ever be a remote consideration. However, off the record many psychiatrists and doctors feel that weed has it’s benefits in certain case scenarios, if it were legalized.

Answer #14

Oh yea. it helps with a lot of things. eating disorders. pain. migranes.

Answer #15

Evan is correct there. A lot of people depend on it in order to be happy and thats not good. everything in moderation. a little galss of wine at dinner is not bad neither is a joint every now and then. lol

Answer #16

The hallucination of feeling happy when you can’t find it in yourself to be ?

Answer #17

yes exactly.

Answer #18

Your not alone Aditi, so do those that work in the ER and see it up close and personal.

Answer #19

Yep.. Well no one I know ever got hooked into it but when I see kids my age, I feel sad.. I mean they are ruining their lives with their own choices right? :(

Answer #20

if u smoke synthetic a lot, u will eventually die from it. smoke real marijuana
