Possible age to get pregnant-poodle

It’s my first time to handle a female dog. She’s now 4months old. Her mom is a poodle and the dad is an akita. But she came out just like her mom.. Their size too is quite the same. What could be her possible age to get pregnant?

phrannie,

yes you are right. I am definitely curious because I care for her. not that I am considering to breed her. but we all know it’s a dog nature to heat and be pregnant it’s just that it’s my first time to handle a female dog like her and I think I should know when’s the best time to lay an eye on her. thanks anyway :)

I am afraid that spaying her would affect her behavior and metabolism.. yeah spaying is a good idea but when I think of it I feel pity for her I heard that she could suffer from the process.. she’s still a baby for me you know.. ugh..

Answer #3

I hope you’re just curious and not considering breeding her…no matter how lovely a dog she may be, the world is already full of mixed breed mutts dying by the millions every year in animal shelters.

At five to seven months she will have her first heat, and when she does that’s when she starts being able to be pregnant. For her health and the health of the babies, she should not have a litter of puppies until she is at least 1.5 years of age. Otherwise it can kill her and it can kill the puppies.

Answer #5

Why dont you go get her spayed? Theres enough dogs dying in shelters…
