Why should wetland enviroments be protected?
Yes as jazlove... says, wetlands provide invaluable habitats for a very wide range of animals and plants, and they have every bit as much right to be here as we do.
Increasingly, we have come to understand that everything is interconnected. Destroying the habitat for even one species may have far-reaching consequences on the overall balance of life - including us.
If you check out the link to the Ramsar Convention (to your earlier question) you'll find more on this. It's a basic principle of all ecology.
its an important habitat for a variouse range of animals and plants that only survive in wetland areas a lot of birds also live in wetland areas and theres no need to get rid of it and put something stupid like a shopping mall or building over an enviroment that needs to stay on earth
Wetlands should be protected because if they aren't, yes it is stupid, but people will build houses and stuff in wetlands/swamp areas. Lots of people do that here in NH. And then where are the animals supposed to go?
