What is planking?

I keep hearing about it, and I don’t know what it is. Can someone just give me a quick run down?

It’s a silly fad where people choose random places and, basically, lie still. You’re supposed to lie perfectly still, on your belly, with arms straight down, in a “plank” position, often while someone photographs you. It became a fad because it’s utterly stupid … and we all know how stupid ideas tend to recruit more followers.

Someone recently died from “planking” on a balcony and they fell off whilst someone was trying to take a picture, but most people dont do it in dangerous places.
