How is a plain created ?

(landform)

Answer #1

Most of them are “Floodplains”. They are formed to each side of rivers and streams that are subject to periods of flooding, and where the surrounding ground has a fairly shallow gradient. They are more common in low-land regions (particularly coastal areas in areas with high rainfall.

The flood water tends to cause erosion, and materials are redistributed by the moving water in such a manner as to reduce any peaks in the terrain and fill any troughs.
