Would you say some people now-a-days are losing sympathy for others?

im only asking because over the weekend and what happened friday in japan i noticed almost every kid in my school didnt care and laughed at Japan as the tsunami and earthquake destroyed peoples homes, families and lives.. it seems to me that people dont care anymore.

Answer #1

People are stupid. the teenagers of this time are just loosing the sympathy that used to be there. they just are not the same. i dont know what else to say. im so dissapointed in my generation.

Answer #2

I don’t think people are stupid; but sympathy doesn’t solve a problem. It’s useless. Sure, it shows that you have a good heart and you care, but it’s good for nothing.

Answer #3

i think people are stupid. but thats probally cause i cant stand people lmfao. even myself.

Answer #4

That is terrible they did and said those things, they shud b very ashamed of themselves, and in my opinion teenagers have become less sympathetic

Answer #5

Hey, not everyone is a people person, lol. No problem with that :P

Answer #6

Sympathy doesnt exactly solve problems but people who feel and care will eventually try and do something about it. Plus its always good to know someone cares about you when everything is wrong and nothing seems right. Sympathy i believe can make people who lost everything feel some hope by knowing they care.

Answer #7

people with you type of thinking age is the exact type of people i was referring to.

Answer #8

I would have to say yes. A lot of people honestly don’t have very much compassion or empathy when it comes to things like this anymore. As long as it isn’t happening to them, they seem to not care very much. If the tables were turned, however, they wouldn’t be laughing as hard anymore.

Answer #9

i think that we are so interconnected electronically now days that people are relating more to their electronic device than the actual world, it really is disheartening to see people on breaks at work relating to someone on a phone rather than conversing with their coworkers. information is so readily accessible that it is desensitizing and the people who are buying into it are becoming digitized and synchronized to something electronic. i believe the media is partly to blame as well- they cover a story for so long that people get tired of hearing about it and move along to some other form of entertainment.

the world is truly going downhill.

Answer #10

i completely agree with you. People worry more about electronics and material possession now than they do about actual people.

Answer #11

Yes, I am a teenager in 2011 with no sympathy for others. What happened in Japan was nothing short of tragic, but, lots of people just don’t care, especially teenagers that don’t have any connection/relation to Japan, simply because it doesn’t affect them. Sure, it was rude for those kids at your school to behave like that, but they are probably the teenagers that I’m describing. The kids at my school make fun of it, too.

Answer #12

True say. But its good to think of the losses thaat are happeneing. i agree that the people in japan arent connected to us, but it does suck.

Answer #13

There’s nothing wrong with today’s generation of teenagers. There’s nothing special, or unique, or terrible about us. We behave exactly like the generation before us, and the generation before that. Our children will behave just like we did when they are teenagers. Do you think ALL teenagers in the 1960’s or 1970’s would be serious and respectful about what happened in Japan and not crack a joke or something? A handful probably wouldn’t, just like today.

Answer #14

You’re right, Trudell, it’s great to think of the losses and have some respect for what’s happened in Japan. My point to Katherine-Rose is just that I think people today are no different that people of the past, and that includes how much sympathy they have for others. But hey, that’s just my opinion.
