Patterns in nature?

My friend and I are doing a project in geometry.

We must have information on how the pattern was discovered and names of the people involved. A few pictures of the pattern as it occurs in nature are also required. The last part is a detailed description of the pattern and a few “numeric examples.”

If anyone knows something that would work I would be very happy to be told about it!
