Natural selection

What is natural selection according to darwin? Does it still occur today?

Answer #1

It refers to survival of the fittest, in relation to their environment. Those that are better able to survive will reproduce more passing on their traits.

It also may refer to those that are most likely to attract mates thereby being able to reproduce and pass on their traits. Such attraction may be because of colors, nest building capabilities, etc. in the particular species.

Answer #2

Survival of the fittest.

It occurs today as it did thousands of years ago. The only problem is that evolution is so gradual that we don’t live long enough to see the effects. However, look at the changes just over the past few decades - people have become taller on average and have actually expanded the use of their brains. I truly believe this is a result of our environment.
