It’s not just in the Philippines - it’s everywhere. Probably because they don’t like the animal, don’t want to be bothered by it, it’s being like peeing on the floor or eating something, they don’t want to take care of it, it’s not people friendly. There’s tons of reasons.

In many countries dogs and cats are kept for practical reasons and not as pets. The dogs you see in the Philippines are probably there to guard properties, whereas our dogs here are companions to be petted and loved.

hi, im 13 yrs old and i live in philippines.. we lock our dogs up because of three reasons: (1)to guard our houses and property (2)because most houses here dont have gates or maybe they dont like dogs kept inside their houses/rooms becuse dogs are a little messy and then there’s reason number(3)a lot of guyz here, mostly in the province catch astray dogz then use them as treats in drinking beer or what we call ‘pulutan’…thats why dog owners cage their beloved dogs.. did u get it? or was i confusing…anyway…wish i’d help…

dogs r locked so that they become fierce gaurd dogs in my country. they r also locked so that they don’t wonder out of the house and catch fleas, infection or rabies from other stray dogs. etc i know of a mall in my country that locks off Tibetean Mastiffs all day like around 8- 10 of them and releases them during the night to guard the mall. No one dares rob that mall lol
