Girls views on the medias high standards for women

I would like to know how many women get negative self images from magazines. I know as a woman that when I look through a magazine and see mens unrealistic views of women I tend to feel like I am fat. But I always realize that im perfect the way I am. Just wanted to know who else feels that the media is portraying women whose looks and weight are nearly impossible to reach. Sorry if what I am saying is unclear My friend just told me shes anorexic and im extremely upset Its hard to get my head clear right now.

I saw a commercial on TV the other day, I don’t remember what for, a girl maybe about 12, 13, watching TV and flipping through a magizine crying. It said, ‘Girls and young women are in so much pressure these days. Tell your daughter she’s beautiful.’

My awesome brother said, ‘You see that Libby? It’s true.’ :)

Who decided, ‘Now ladies! You need to be 100 pounds and 5’7” to stay here or you’re out of the business and considered ugly for the rest of your life!’ ?

Whoever did that, screw you. You ruined this world.

I think it’s men nowadays.

So if any of you men happen to be reading this right now, Can you please look farther than looks?! Everybody’s beautiful in their own way and YOU can’t tell me, or any other women otherwise. I can’t believe women are considered plus size if they’re a size 4! You know what? I’m a size 6 and I’m not fat! I know that now.

Sigh I gotta stop babbling on, my head starting to hurt.

Oh, but first…

I’m really sorry about your friend. She needs to talk to somebody. Eating is fine to do, and most guys perfer a girl that actually picks up a sandwich now and then! You just need to do that with a bit of excersize, and you’re beautiful in my eyes.

I feel the same way when I look through magazines and mainly watching TV! Its really saddening seeing what everyone says is beautiful and hot, which are a bunch of girls who are 20 pounds underweight I’ll never be as skinny as a supermodel and I was once bullimic for a while because I thought that maybe if I were skinny I’d be happy I don’t think guys understand the pressure that girls get from all of it its another scheme the medias taking to control the minds of america luckily after coming face to face with the bitter reality of things, I’ve learned to accept that I’ll never be skinny as a rail, nor do I want to be anymore but I do feel a little ugly whenever I see beautiful people my advice for your friend, give her support and just show her how beautiful life is, no matter what weight she is thats why I love the movie Titanic, Rose isn’t a twig, shes a full figured girl featured in the most amazing romance movie of the 20th century lol

I agree! Real women are not the super skinny anorexic girls that magazines and media tell us that are beautiful. And we are all pretty.

Answer #4

yes, I don’t like it either. They should put REAL women in magizines, not twigs that have deseases to make themselves skinnier.

Answer #5

I agree, guys oogle over these “hot skinny tanned babes with long dark hair” and think we dont care. not every woman is like that, guys need to accept how we look, and when guys do ogle other airbrushed chicks it puts your self esteem lower making you feel like you need to impress them and the world by losing weight and tanning and so on so forth. the media messes with our minds and the deception of beauty, and it bugs me so much that a lot of guys and other people out there think all girls should look like babes when the truth is that not all of us are all bones.

Answer #6

well the thing I dont understand is that you see these woman super skinny and big boobs dressed in expensive clothing but to be like that size is just completly unrealistic b/c you know she doesnt eat much and her boobs are plastic that is not what I want so I get over it real quick :) tell you friend how good she looks & if she really wants to lose weight being anorexic.

Answer #7

I feel the same way. Those models get so much done to them to make them look perfect and aren’t even close to being real. I’m glad I’m real and I’d never let someone change me no matter what. I may not be completely happy with my body but thats life and I’m cool with that. I’m so proud of “plus size” women competing in modeling now, some actually winning which is fantastic. I love Tyra banks and I’m glad she took a stand to stop the fake life, she looks so much better with some meat on her body now not worrying what others think.
