My Landlord wants to get rid of my kitten

he thinks they are destructive and on the other hand, my upstairs neighbor has a giant pitbull and he allows it…go figure -_- well all im asking is some reasons why I should keep my kitten. thanks :(

Answer #1

Have you brought up the fact that they have a pitbull above you? As long as your kitten is litter trained,I dont see a huge problem. if its not litter trained though,I can understand theyre complaint.Cat urine is REALLY hard to get out,and the smell stays forever.

Aww! You can always lie and tell him/her that you’ve gotten rid of it. In reality you can keep it. What are the chances of it being spotted by the landlord?

As long as you don’t allow it to go outside… and it hides when guests arrive. (My cats are afraid of unfamiliar voices and hide.)

Hope you get to keep it!

I wouldn’t bring up the pit, it’s not your business and pits have a bad rep already.

What I would do is buy the little caps that go on cat nails that prevent them from scratching. Then you can explain to the landlord how they work and that the cat won’t scratch the floor/carpet/walls,etc since she’s wearing them on her claws.

Tell him/her that if they find that anything has been “destroyed” by your kitten when you move out then they can keep your deposit. Or did the landlord say anything about pets when you moved in? Maybe you can sue or something if they didn’t say that no cats were allowed because they put you in a terrible situation.

Answer #5

awww I would say that the pitbull is more destructive. and if your kittens are destructive, what harm could they do? they are small little creatures. and cats keep mice away and stuff, so thats a plus :) . and they don’t bark or whine late at night like dogs do; they are quiet gentle creatures that will grow up and become very lazy so they won’t be destructive for long. yeah so I would tell that to him.

Answer #6

I was going to give my great advice but everyone beat me to it. I will say that I think your landlord may have been concerned if the place is furnished and he was afraid the kitty would claw the furniture and carpet. And, No, don’t lie. You have to worry about getting caught all the time and it can be very stressful and you can’t go anywhere for very long because you can’t leave him by himself.

Answer #7

Don’t lie…if you get caught, you’ll kicked out…and you both will be homeless…Do ask him about the caps for the kitties claws…do ask if you can pay a non refundable “pet deposit”…Landlords seem to always love money…Don’t bring up the Pit…it’s probably a nice dog, and would definately be PTS if it became homeless…Maybe look for another place…or a home for the kitten, if the landlord won’t change his mind.,
