in the compound FeO, iron has a valence number of

+3 -3 +2 -2? and WHY… hehe we asked this time :D

Well I’m guessing 2+ (dont quote me on this one)

Oxygen has 6 electrons in it’s outer shell (2,6), and so it needs two more to become stable… Iron can either become 2+ or 3+ (please dont ask me why…), and in this case, since oxygen is 2-, it would probably be 2+
