Marriage in another state

I am getting married in Florida but I live in a different state. I was told by a friend that I would have to go to the court house and show them our marrage papers so it would be valid in the state we live in is that true ? Can anyone help

Not normally. However, if you were applying for some benefit or something in your state you might be required to show a marriage license whether you were married in your state or somewhere else.
