How long does it take to quit smoking, by just stopping altogether?

like how long would you be cranky for?

Answer #1

Depends how addicted you are, how many you currently smoke per day, and how long you have been smoking.

Answer #2

It depends, I’ve seen the rare few people just able to go cold turkey and that was it. Some people it takes a few days or a few weeks…

Answer #3

It supposedly is only supposed to take 28 days to kick a habit I think

Answer #4

Depends on how long you have been smoking for, how much you smoke a day, and your body type. (everybody reacts to it differently) And as well, the type of environment you live in. Because if everyone you live with smokes, chances are, its going to be alot harder for you to quit.

I tried stopping cold turkey several times, and the last one (duh) finally worked. I was up to 3 packs a day and had been smoking for 22 years (11-33). It took 7 more years after quitting before I noticed that I had NO MORE URGES. During that period I had to stay on guard (almost lost out at one point about 5 years after quitting). Also I never would say that I had Q-U-I-T…… only that I was Q-U-I-T-T-I-N-G. And I have not resumed to this day. I know that if I were to start up again I would be hooked IMMEDIATELY.

My crankiness was REALLY bad for 72 hours, then it tapered off rather quickly.

Good Luck!!
