lip ring swelling

Hey! So I got my lip pierced a year ago and it healed just fine. A little swelling that went down in a week or 2. So 5 weeks ago I decided to get the other side pierced. I took good care of it and everything but its still swollen. The only time it actually hurts is in the morning a little bit, but other than that it feels perfectly fine. It’s just so weird because the other piercing healed so fast. I dont know if the swelling means somethings wrong or just because its healing different. any advice would be GREAT!! thank! =)

hey guys I got my lower lip pierced ( placed between the lip and the cheek) on the left side and it seems to be reeli reelii swollen. I got it pierced onli 33 days ago. the end of the bar from the outside which is the tiny ball seems to be dug in to my skin so practically flush to my skin..can anybodt give me advice to what I should do???

yeah I went back to the piercer and she said its no big deal. im sure im just paranoid because I’ve had the other one for about a year and it healed right away and I still have no problems with it. this one is just taking forever.

it depends how long have you had the other one in for? swelling on any lip ring should be going down in aeround 3 days- a week at the most if youve had it in for more than this and its still swollen something may be wrong so you should go back to the piercer or a doctor and ask them if its healing properly

every piercing heals different. I did the exact same thing, got the left side done almost 15 years ago and the right about 4 years ago. The more recent piercing healed quickly but would get irritated very easily, then the old one would get it too. Keep your mouth clean, don’t touch the piercings with dirty hands, and try not to play with them with your mouth too much, that movement can irritate them. also diet and sleep play a big part any time your body is healing, from piercings to a scraped knee, so eat right and get your sleep.
