Legal age to move out in Missouri?

I’m 16 and now living in Missouri. I want to move to Texas when I’m 17, but can I legally do that without parental consent?

Answer #1

when you’re 18 but most kids leave home like at 17 to go to college, but the legal age is 18

Answer #2

um when your 18 you r officially and adult so then you can move out then!!

Answer #3

legal age IS 18.. BUT if you leave @ 17 && parents report you as a runaway – there’s nothing the law will really do about it !!

Answer #4

nope… the only way you can do that is if you emancipate yourself… and for that you have to take your parents to court and present a valid reason why you feel like you NEED to move out… and then you have to show that YOU will be able to financially able to support yourself… without ANY help from your parents… that legally separates you from them and they are then not legally responsible for you anymore… but this is something really serious to consider… if your going to move when you are 17 I agree with the person above me just wait another year until your 18… that way your an adult and you dont have to deal with the whole judicial process… I hope I helped…

Answer #5

legal age is now 17

Answer #6

In Texas, sorta… I moved out when I was 17. If your parents do report you as a runaway, the law here won’t really do anything about it because you are so close to the legal age of consent. By the time they found you and put you through the legal system, you would BE 18. The flip side to that is that NO respectable apartment will rent to a 17 year old. You cannot enter a legally binding contract until you are 18, like a lease. So if you do decide to move, find someone to move in with.

On another note, you live in Missouri, what are you going to do for a job when you get here?
