Lab puppy ,9wks old

Is a warm dry nose always a fever?

Answer #1

No…a warm or dry nose is NOT an indicator of a sick puppy…however lethargy, diarreah, vomiting, lack of appectite…are indicators…If the only thing your pup has is warm nose, then he’s probably ok…but DO keep an eye out for any other symptoms.

As long as you’ve made sure your pup had a wellness check, and has gotten his vaccinations…I wouldn’t worry.

If you have not see a vet you need to go. Puppies will go down hill fast if sick. We had a client yesterday who’s 11wk old pup was sick for about 8 days, He was supposed to come in yesterday and called to say the puppy had past and now he has to tell his son when he gets home from school. Don’t wait, this pup should have been dewormed and had one set of vaccines so far and needs 3 more sets of vaccines over the next couple of months. Do yourself a favor and go to a doctor, At least you are getting the dog checked out.

Answer #3

No it’s not always a fever. Keep a eye on your pup and watch for some other signs. Listlessness. Lathargic. Uninterested. Sleeps a lot. Doesn’t eat or drink. Your lab is still quite young and remember that your pup has just been removed from its mother not long ago and there is an adjustment period. It may cause your pup to show physically what it’s feeling emotionally. If you’re really concerned go to your vet. It costs you money but the pup’s health is more important.
