is my piercing infected?

I just got my navel piercing about a week ago, it’s been fine up until the past two days. lately it’s been itchy and kind of red around the two holes. While cleaning the bottom hole I’ve noticed that there was a tiny little bit of green stuff that came off of the top of the hole. At first I thought it was just the skin around the hole coming off, but now I’m worried it may be infected. but it doesn’t hurt at all. Can you please help?

I’d recomend you go to the place you got it pierced and ask them. there the experts on it. unless you did it yourself, then most likely yes it’s infected.

Answer #2

every piercing you will ever get is unhealthy. including ears. its not a natural thing. the belly button is a lot more sensitive because it’s not exposed near as much as ears.

Answer #3

Do NOT clean it with alcohol. It causes scar tissue around the woung, prolonging the healing period. Try buying some H2Ocean, it honestly is a miracle in an aerosol can. It is purified salt water and it helps improve circulation to the area. They sell it at many piercing places, and also at some Hot Topics. Your belly button is most likely not infected, it is a normal reaction. If it becomes extremely painful and pusses for longer than a week, I would go back to the place you got it done. Also, try to keep the area free of tight clothing, dirty clothing, and lotion/oil. These can actually cause infection in healing piercings.
