Is it okay if I don't have the multiplication facts memorized?

Im going into 10th grade & I don’t have the memorized. I mean, I can figure them out, but I just don’t have them in my head. & what are some really good ways to memorize them?

Answer #1

You really should by heart your times table! My mom made me by heart the times table when I was in 4th grade. Actually it was mandatory in my class for tests. I guess you just grow up with it. You really should have them memorized. It helps you calculate things faster manually.

Find a CD or MP3 track of them set to music - you can get them fairly easily and it’s easier to learn them as song lyrics than as maths facts!

Answer #3

I’m the same. I dunno everyone has differnt learning types. Try repeating them over and over by saying them or just reading them. Hightlight and colour them. Or find a random maths site on the comp.

lol, I did my SATs, GREs and still dont have them memorized :) The only trick I have is for the 9 times table. Have your palms up. From left to right. 2 x 9, put your second finger down (right index) then the numbers to the right of that is the first number, and the numbers to the left is the second number

There’s a video that might make it more clear…
