Should it be illegal to own a pitbull if you have small children?

Answer #1

definitely not. A well raised Pit Bull is an excellent dog and very good with children. There is actually far more attacks on people by Husky type dogs (at least here in Canada) than any other type.Pit bulls get a bad rap they don’t deserve

Answer #2

you should have a pitbull since its a puppy or it most be in your family since it was my sister has one and my 7 year ol nephew has been around her since he was a newborn and she loves him and has never hurt him or even tried to and she protects him she even used to go sleep with him

Answer #3

If the dog is aggressive, I do think that some restrictions should be made. Any mother or father should always try to bring their child away from harm. An aggressive animal is definitely a threat. If the dog isn’t aggressive, though, I don’t see a need for it.

Answer #4

When raised with children pitbulls are actually extremely good with them and far more trustworthy than many other breeds. Brining in an older Pitbull, especially one who has been abused/fought, I don’t think is a good idea, but thats not the pitbulls fault, its the owners. Pitbulls are good dogs and I disagree 101% with the breed bans on them.

Answer #5

defiantly not because pitbulls are good dogs unless they are raised to fight like by those total a**holes. But if your dog isn’t then obviously it should be okay..people mislead pitbulls becaus of other cruel people’s actions.

Answer #6

Adding to that the dog that is responsible for biting the most children in the UK is actually the cocker spaniel. Any dog can be a good dog if well raised.

Answer #7

I agree, it isn’t the dog that’s mean it’s the owner that raises it that way. They shouldn’t be singaled out just because their breed.

Answer #8

pit bulls ave a rep for being fighting and evil dogs, yet the doegs are only agrresive if they are trianed to be agressive. this is will any dog, if it is trained to fight or be agressive then, it will be. it is not strictly pit bulls…

Answer #9

Not unless you have had him since he was a little one, but If you just get him, you don’t now what his history is like, and kids love dogs, what if they try to play with the dog and the dog ends up doing something to them? Just to be on the safe side, another dog would be better.

Answer #10

Why is no one talking about the dogs family history? What if you happen to get a pit pull puppies and some dogs in that puppies bloodline was faught and u didn’t know? No one thinks that shud b taken into consideration considering the rap that that particular breed has?

Answer #11

Pitbulls actually originally started out as a family dog. All of a sudden people realized they had a lock-jaw and started using them for fighting. Pitbulls are not bad dogs if they were not raised that way. Any type of dog can turn on a person. The odds of this happening are just slightly greater with a pitbull or a rottweilers.

Answer #12

pitties are wonderful dogs,if you have their distemper shots everything shall be fine, most dogs bite because they have been neglected,or tramatized.
