I want my family to move out?

So I got myself into stuff. I offered for my brothers girlfriend & 4 yr to come stay in my house until she got money to save up and move out.She has been here since Feb 09 & just recently found out that she has got $0 saved up.So, ihave been flipping the bill for the whole house, mortgage light water food.I have no children.my brother is not able to work because he has a condition. But I am getting so sick of them being here because now brother is also here. They don’t do nothing around the house, she works at Denny’s for whatever they make, but she is not making an initiative to find another job. But because he is my brother and that is my 4 yr old niece I really don’t know how to go about it besides constantly asking if they have been looking for an apt.

I have asked my daughter to move several times as she doesn’t pay rent, and she now has a government job. I recently sat downn with her and basically told her we were giving her 60 days to move out. Her reply was “I thought you had to obtain an eviction notice” first (we live in California) before she has to act on this. Is this corect?

I know it probably doesn’t help…but there are millions of us out here who have been in exactly the same position.

It does no good to constantly ask them if they’ve saved any money, found another job, have any plans, ask when they are moving…blah blah blah…all you get is frustration and resentment.

Sometimes we have to make “decisions” in order for others to “help themselves”. We do them an injustice by allowing freeloading to go on without end…This is what I did…FINALLY. I told them they had until such and such a date to get their poop in a group, and move on. I gave them 90 days from the date I said my piece (that seemed fair, and would give them enough time). Since they had no real expenses of their own, that meant they’d have plenty of money to get started on an apartment…AND, I made it perfectly clear, that I wasn’t BS’ing…if they didn’t put that money away, they’d be on the street. When it was getting close to the deadline, I handed them a sheet with all the places they could get free food, from the Mission to the Food Bank…and addresses of shelters (just wanted to remind them I was serious as a heart attack)…

Sometimes ya just gotta be FIRM.
