How can I convince my dad to let me get a dog?

I really wish I could get a dog and my dad will not even let me get a fish it is not fair and he does not even live in the same country as my mom and I and my older brother who I call dum kuf which is german for stpid head anyways I think you should just show your mom your ready [in really any way and go to the petstore with her and just bring that dog home and that will be the sollution

Well I would work at the SPCA or any animal places,but there is no places like that where I live.I live in a small town called Clonmel in Ireland…{sniff}

well I wanted APUPPY REALLLY BAd and afta 8 years I finally convinced my dad to allow one for me … go du some out reach at the SPCA and when he picks you you tell hm to come in and look at this really cute puppy you saw whu needs a home…THATS WHAT I did AND IT WORKED LOL!!! but not ganna lie mine poops a lot and is hectic all the time and chews everything and I CANT HOUSE TRain my puppy!?!?!??!?!??!

I always show my dad pics of cute dogs in my dog books or on the computer or even vids of singing/cuddly dogs.But that does not work?

If your dad said no, then you’re just going to have to accept that. A puppy is a huge responsibility, a lot of work, and expensive to keep.

Remember - it’s his house, and he doesn’t have to have a dog.

You can get a dog when you have your own place.

I know,it just seems age’s away…{sniff} I mean we used to have a dog when I was six a little spaniel named Poppy,but I was to young and at that time I could’nt really look after her.I am older now…

Well you have to try and prove that you are responsible enough you can start by getting a small pet like a hamster and raise it to prove you are sensible and reiable and do extra things like doing chores without being asked to. If you can try to get the nicer parent to talk to your dad about getting a dog. Try to find out WHY your dad doesn’t want you to get a dog then try to find a solution to it. If it is a money problem then you probably can’t do anything about it unless you get a summer job or something. Or if you have siblings try to persuade them to tell your dad that they want a dog too. Remember do not pester your dad to get a dog he will just be even more determined to stop you from getting a dog.

Well, you can try to find out why he isn’t letting you get a dog and then try to solve it. If it is a money problem then you should try to get a job or something to earn money or get your dad or mom to get an extra job. If you have siblings and they want a dog too then team up. You can also prove to your dad that you are responsible enough to get one. You also have to find a right breed of dog that suits your life style. When you prove to your dad that you are responsible you can get a smaller pet and raise it well or do extra chores without being told to do then. But try not to pester them about it too much becausee that will only make him mad and he will only be more determined to stop you from getting a dog.
