I just can't seem to get over it.

Something happened to me about 4 months ago. I was in turkey, and this man that my parents new for a long time offered to take me on his motorbike around the town. I’d always wanted to go on a motorbike so I was like dead excited and said yeah. He wouldn’t stop driving and he bought me 1 hour away to the place he took me from. His hand was on my leg all the way through and I was shaking like mad. he stopped the bike in the middle of no where and then snogged me. I tried to stop him and his hand was still going up my leg. he didn’t do anything more. my parents figured out because the next day I didn’t talk, didn’t drink, eat, move. I just locked myself in my room and slept. my parents figured out evantually, though.

I can’t seem to get over it. every time I think about it I shudder and feel sick. am I totally over reacting because he didn’t actually rape me? I just want to know what the deal is. How can I stop feeling like this because of what he did? By the way, he was about 25, I’m 13. He knew my age.

No, you are not overreacting. What happened was terrifying and sickening and violating… just because something worse did not happen, does not mean you’re not allowed strong emotions… There are no wrong emotions, remember that… You may need to talk this over with someone to deal with how you’re feeling… Also, I know this sounds like a line, but nothing that happened is your fault…

This is a sexual assault hotline, I suggest you talk to them. And dont worry that they’re going to think that you’re overreacting or that you have no right to complain. Whatever you went though is traumatizing, and everyone is different in how long it takes them to recover…

well, I know words cant help much, but your so lucky nothing really bad did happen..some men are just pigs, and he was in the wrong…you shouldent feel bad about it..I understand you feel really unconfy about it..but dont worry about it to much..karma will kick him in the butt sooner or later…its a good thing your parents figured it out..its hard to talk about these things, I know.
