it is just a stupid rhyming rule that lets first graders remember that most of the time I comes before e

Answer #2

there are a few exeptions like I think 10 words maybe it is stupid

Answer #3

weird

Answer #4

give a word containing “ie” I cannot get any

Answer #5

…except in some words such as “neighbor” and “weigh”…

…if you remember the whole rhyme, it’s actually a fairly good way to start on one of the most commonly mis-spelled word patterns in English :)

Answer #6

yeah it’s stupid… I remember it like this.. if the combination sounds like the “ei” in einstein, then it is ei… and if it sounds more like the “ee” in feet, then it is ie.

Answer #7

I know how to do it now. I now about three languages and all have the same thing. ei = eh ee. kinda anywayz, I don’t know if you’d know what I’m talking about. I was just wondering why they said that cause when I learned it a long time ago, it got me spelling words wrong until 7th grade. I learned new languages in 8th. :)
