Should I worry that my 7-year-old is hitting puberty?

My seven year old already has musk glads & recently I have noticed some pubic hair, her doctor feels this is no big deal, should I be preparing for the big talk ?

Answer #1

I got my first pubic hair at arounf early 6.

Never go the talk though. But I’d think it would be a good idea. :p

Answer #2

this is no big deal. Im 13 and ive just started. I Hit puberty at the age of 8 and started my period at the age of 13 and im fine,.

Answer #3

I actually wouldn’t worry about it. I got my pubic hair REALLY early, around six or seven, and my parents never really said anything about it to me. Actually, I had to wait until fifth grade, in science class to hear the talk. I’m not telling you to wait that long, but you can wait another few years until you have to.

Answer #4

Kids are going through puberty at younger and younger ages. So yes, you might want to have a bit of “the talk.” You don’t get have to get too much into the “where babies come from” part if you don’t want to, but I think it would probably be a good idea to at least talk about periods and changes in bodies. The average age for getting a period is about 12, but I have heard of 9 and 10 year olds having a period too.

Answer #5

Dear withatee, There are several books available at your public library that will walk you through the stages according to age. At 7 a child should already know and understand the way life begins and the proper names for body parts. We sometimes feel we can protect our children by withholding information and the opposite is true. With knowledge comes power and self-esteem. The type of question a child asks usually tells us how much we need to tell the child. Sue..good luck

Answer #6

its normal when i was 8 i had my period and i have turned out normal. The big talk i don’t think so unless you see her getting curious

Answer #7

Just cover the period talk and once she does get it talk about sex and babies ok good luke!!!

Answer #8

i got my period at the age of eight. so her body could be preparing for it. just notice any hormonal changes and such and i wish you and her luck with that i know it was hard on me. and for me to understand.
