How to stop feeling like I am going to faint?

I am a dancer for my school, and after school everyday we practice for 2-3 hours, I drink sooo much waterr and about an hour into it I feel like I am going to faint, it’s so bad I have to stop and I can’t keep stoping, its taking away from my practice time! I am 6 pounds under the average weight for my age but if you get to overwight I am afraid to get like kicked off the team! I have been to the doctor, they say there is nothing wrong but they are not there whehn it happens. I get prob like 8 hours of sleep a night. I eat protein bars for lunch. And salads, could people please help! I really have to stop feeling like this! Cause I have fainted before during dance.

you should try engery drinks maybe before practice…but don’t let it cut into the amount of water that your drinking but if your worried about gaining weight make sure it’s a diet energy drink

I had the same problem whe I was karate training. Taodaly is bang on. Get some pasta and bread into you. I think wholemeal bread is the best.

Answer #3

This sounds like your blood sugar is too low. Eat more complex carbs (whole wheat breads/pasta) before/during your practices (not low quality simple sugars like candy, soda or energy drinks!)

Answer #4

everyone is right in some way. I agree that you should definitely drink something like gatorade because it contains water and all the other essential electrolytes including glucose. I understand you probably want to keep your weight down, but there are a lot of healthy alternatives like granola/energy bars that you should definitely keep with you and eat when you feel faint.

Dear dncr125, The problem could be the water intake. You should not be consuming this much water. There is a condition associated with over consumption of water and feeling faint is one of them. There was an athlete not so long ago died from over using water. You must drink when you are thirsty only, even during strenuous workouts. Consuming more than 8 glasses and this includes water from other sources is all you need. Slightly more if you are working out. Sue…good luck
