Does the earring have to be in there before I can change it?

Hey, so I peirced my own ear last night. I did the helix piercing, I have two questions, -how long does the earring have to be in there before I can change it? -how would I know if I have an infection? Thank ya!

I got told you hae to keep it in around 6 weeks before you can change it and your ear would look funny if it was infected you will no if it was or not :)

Piercing it yourself wasn’t smart. You should of went to a professionally. Ear piercings aren’t usually healed completely for a few months, but since you did yours the wrong way, it’ll probably take longer. It’s actually easy to tell if you have an infection. Signs of infection are as follows -

Pain, redness, puffiness, a yellowish pus, a hot feeling around the affected area if you touch it, it’ll feel really warm by the affect area.
