How do split ends effect hair growth?

Like hair grows from the scalp not the ends? So why do you have to cut your split ends

Answer #1

if the ends get fried enough they’ll start breaking off so it’s best to just trim your hair then take really good care of it so you don’t get split ends in the first place :)

Answer #2

those are all right, if you dont get it trimmed ( you dont have to literally cut it off) but then all the split ends would go higher and higher, and the more it does the more you have to cut/trimm off your hair which will make it look shorter ( unless you like that lol) and its definetly unhealthy. you will soon actually be able to see it on a persons hair. trust me, it obiuos on some of the girsl at school… so yeah 6 weeks…

Answer #3

ok it affects the growth by one looking bad, and two its very unhealthy for your hair the best thing to do is going get it cut.

Answer #4

cause if you dont cut your hair every six weeks, then your split ends can go all the way up the hair shafts and that would just be horrible. you have to get your hair trimmed every 6 weeks, or your hair will break and split.. believe me, I have really long hair, and split ends are so annoying!

Answer #5

as long as its just the ends, it doesnt effect it. the only part of your hair that is alive is where it meets your scalp. other than that its all dead
