How do I get unemployment for personal emergency reason?

My 13 year old is having behavorial issues, family services and therapy is involved. I’m a single mom and need to help her get back on track and be there when she needs me to be.

If you voluntarily quit it’s pretty unlikely that you can collect unemployment.

If you try to get a leave of absence, a transfer or change the hours you are available to work and your employer cannot accommodate you, (and you have documentation of this and documentation of the things going on to require you to be away from work substantially) then you may have a chance at unemployment… however slim.

Most likely your employer will grant you a leave of absence.

I’m assuming you want to get paid for work while out of work… doesn’t happen that way in most cases unless your employer gives family medical leave with pay as a benefit.
