how come some mirrors make you look skinier

Hi I was wondering why when I go to like kohls I look fatter in mirrors but everywhere else (besides the one miror I have) all make me look skinnier. All my friends houses’ mirrors make me look skinnier than the store mirrors and my one mirror that I have but the bathroom mirror makes me look the same as my friends mirror and my sisters full length mirror makes me look skinnier too and I was just wondering why? k thanks

So which is the real you?

Answer #2

It’s an optical illusion created by deffective mirrors (sometimes made so purposefully, haha, to make you look skinny and feel happy :)) Have you been to one of those “mirror rooms” at carnivals where the mirrors are so curved that they totally distort the image and make you look funny? Like too short and fat or too tall and skinny, or wavy, etc. Well the mirrors you’ve seen at home or the store etc. have a little bit of that effect, a.k.a. the surface isn’t completely straight so the image is distorted slightly.
