Don’t dwell on what your pet was thinking as it passed. As much as we may love and care for them, animals are not humans and do not possess human emotions or thoughts. An animal’s mind is driven by pretty basic needs, and so Holly Mae was not feeling betrayed or depressed that you were not there. Those are human feelings that should not be applied to this situation. It’s very likely that because of the medication, she was not even aware of anything that was going on and undoubtedly passed peacefully. A goodbye would have meant very little to a dog, as it has no concept that it is going anywhere, so don’t beat yourself up over it.

Give the pain time to ease, because eventually, it will. In the meantime, be glad that you gave your pet the best quality of life possible. For many dogs, that’s a comfort they will never know.

I so sorry about your pet Holy, She was a special girl for you I could tell by you question. cry a little, talk about your feelings towards her. Sometime if you hold a pet funeral and find a meaningful place to bury her that helps you o through the morning process a little easier. Remember Holy is always going to be with you in spirit. Take care of your self. and remember,TIME DOES HEAL ALL WOUNDS!

Time, honey…time is the only healer. You’ve just got to get thru one day at a time…the sharp pain will pass, and in it’s place will be those bitter sweet memories…We’ve all lost dear pets…and we know how you feel.
