How can I lose weight at 39?

I HAD MY COMPLETE HYSTERECTOMY AT AGE 37 AND HAVE COMPLETELY BLEW UP LIKE A BALLOON. IN THE MEANTIME, I HAD MY GALL BLADDER REMOVED THIS YEAR. I EXERCISE 4-6 DYS (DEPENDING ON WORK/HOME SCHEDULE)PER WEEK 45-60 MINS AND THE LAST 2 FULL YEARS I’M VERY HEALTH CONSCIOUS ABOUT WHAT I EAT, HOW MUCH 7 HOW OFTEN. I AM HAVING A VERY DIFFICULT TIME LOSING THE 35LBS I’VE GAINED. I’M 5’3 AND 153LBS. I KEEP FLUCTUATING BETWEEN 151-156. PLEASE HELP.

Same thing happened to me at 36 (complete hysterectomy, not gall bladder). . . I’m now 57 and am slightly comfortable with being overweight. . .You should be commended for trying to nip it in the bud before it’s to late! Well, it’s never to late, but like I said “I’m comfortable” I’m enclosing a pic so you can see what I mean. . .the main thing I’d like to tell you is to be sure to keep your calcium level up to optimum. You may notice that I have no teeth? This is a calcium issue! The jaw bone deteriorates and then your teeth get loose (are real sensitive, too) After that, comes finger/toenails. . .then other more important bones (was told I’d be a hunchback in my old age) Setting out to prove them wrong (since proper nutrition can actually reverse these findings) Keep in touch and GOD bless you!

I feel for you, I know what a pain it is to lose weight, especially when you’re over 30! The only thing that worked for me was to keep track of EVERYTHING I ate – I kept a small notebook with me at all times, and I bought a little calorie counter book from Kaiser - it told me how many calories are in EVERYTHING - all the fast food items too.. - So I strictly adhered to a 1200 calorie a day diet while I was trying to lose weight - I still had three meals a day (made sure they were not over 300 calories) and 2 snacks of 150 calories each. – Also, I had to excersize, which you already do, so that’s great. – It actually took longer than I thought - I lost about 23 lbs in about 9 months… Also, there are some calculators online (you’d have to google for it ‘cuz I can’t remember right now) that will tell you how many calories you need to cut down to in order to lose a certain amount of weight - like you put in your age/weight/height/amount of daily activity, etc… Good luck with your mission! Sounds like you are already doing the most important part already - the excersize and good nutrition. Also, don’t be too hard on yourself – it’s normal to get bigger as you get older - you know, the middle age spread thing - and unfortunately your’s was sped up due to the hysterectomy, so give yourself a break!

My mum is doing weight watchers. And she gained 20 pounds. [[we’re both 5’3”]] And she is enjoying it, but it’s very controlled. I personally recommend getting a Calorie King book or the book Fat Smash Diet by Dr Ian Smith. His diet is strict, but gets looser as it goes on. I definitely recommend Weight Watches if you don’t mind discipline, but ask your doctor if you have any medications that are making it hard to loose weight, ask him if there are alternatives to them that won’t do that. That’s what happened to my mum and she’s constantly gaining weight from it.

Hope that helped!
