How do I know what to attend college for?

How do you know what to go to college for? I know that I want to go to college. But I just don’t know what I want to go for. I liked accounting in high school. Before that I thought that I would go to college for nursing. But now I don’t have a clue. I’m stuck between nursing or a accountant. HELP

To me, Nursing, there’s no higher calling than to be of service/able to truely help someone in their time of need - plus: very much in demand - high salary - can choose what specialty and the part of the country you’d like to work - in many cases, set your own hours - regardless of what you choose, aim high, don’t take no for an answer, and if you stumble get right back up…I wish you the very best !!

Really, it’s hard to know what a person wants to go to college for. I’ve been in college for one and a half years and I still really haven’t the slightest clue. I’m torn between three majors, one of which is offered at a different school. The first year or so will primarily be general education classes. They “help” the student find out what they want to do with their lives. Though the gen. ed. classes don’t really do that. The most that they do is charge you too much per credit and you learn basically everything that you already know (though they do go more in-depth with it; a sociology class for example). Knowing what you want to do with your life at a young age (assuming you’re 18) is a hard thing to accomplish. I’m 22 and still unsure.
But, what irishtomboy said, “which one do I love more and have a passion for?” is the best way. What do you love to do? If there is something that you enjoy thoroughly, but isn’t offered as a degree at the college/university that you’ll be going to, many colleges offer a program in which you choose the classes to “make” your own degree. Basically, you learn what you want to learn and get a degree that was hand made for you, by you (with the help of a advisor of course).

Answer #3

Nursing will get you more money than any accounting jobs ever would. In addition of helping other people, of course.

Take your GEs for now, possibly the ones that will also satisfy the requirements for accounting and nursing.

Answer #4

there are apitude tests that colleges will give you to help you figure it all out…just want to pick something that is up and coming…

Answer #5

stop and think about it this way “which one do I love more and have a passion for?”
