How can I concentrate on stuff that I need to do instead of stuff I don't?
I just graduated college. In college I took a class on learning and memory and we discussed effective studying methods.
Here is some of what I learned: - Use various methods of studying including writing down questions and answers as well as reading them out loud - Don't study everything in topics, you need to mix up. This may seem contradictory to common sense but it is better for your memory. - You absolutely need to use retrieval methods. This means you can't just read it and retain it. You have to use notecards or write out the questions and answer them without looking at the answers at first. You won't retain anything for any period of time without using retrieval. - Split up your study time. For example if you have only 4 hours to study it is better to study one hour each day than to study all four hours at once or splitting into two sections (although two sections is still better than studying all at once)
Other Tips: - If you were drinking soda when you study it is best to drink soda when you take the test. If you always sit in the same spot in class, take your test in that spot. This is called state dependent memory. - Get some sleep and eat breakfast. This honestly helps. It is more brain power. - Use devices to help you remember (pnemonic devices). If it's a list of five things you need to know then use the first letter of each item and make a word with it. This helps tremendously. - The brain becomes less able to learn after 20 minutes of sitting so take several movement breaks.
What I do: I use notecards. It takes forever (2-4 hours) to write them all out but it is worth it. The time it takes to write them out actually helps you retain the information. Then I mix them up really good. After that I split them up into sections of ten. I study ten at a time until I have them memorized. Then I study the next ten. Then I'll combine those two and study that twenty. Etc.. until I am finished. This is the first time then after that it usually comes easy and I can just go through the whole batch. This works so well! When I sit down at a test information spues out of me. It's great.
The more you are concentrated in any work more are the chances you will be SUCCESFULL in life !!! Want to try something DIFFERENT ??? just do the following RIGHT NOW ;
1--chant 'hari om'(hari as in HURRY & om as in HOME without the 'H') do this repetedly & a point will come where you will feel like you just want to close your eyes ( in that case case do it).At this point increase the number of O in om like HARI OOOM & then ---HARI OOOM--- & so on.when you chant this VEDIC MANTRA then remain silent (no thinking!,fidgeting,moving,etc) for an amount of time taken to chant this one mantra.this looks very very simple but its effects are very very very large (even ALBERT EINSTEIN would not had imagine it !!!). this is called 'CHUP SADHANA' & I learned it from 'param pujya ASARAMJI bapu'.--->'www.asharam.org ' also read JEEVAN RASAYAN a book from ---'http://hariombooks.goog... ' tihs will help remove all weakness from you,believe me millions have obtained benefits from it ,literally.
note: women durimg their periods are not to chant OM but they can chant HARI

If your difficulty concentrating is causing educational problems you should get evaluated for learning problems. I've had Attention Deficit Disorder my whole life; they didn't even have this diagnosis when I was a boy. They had hyperactive kids but I wasn't hyperactive so teachers assumed that I was lazy and unmotivated.
If you have ADD than there are techniques you can learn to help; you may be able to improve without medication with some coaching. Medication is an option if coaching isn't enough. In any case knowing is better than not.

just make a note on things u dont do but need to do. look at it mostly everyday . think about it . it ment come to mind to do it right then and there then it ment not. check off the ones u do . do the same thing the next day but not the ones already checked off and by the end of the week it all should be done. do it for however long it takes u to get it down pac and ull be on a role. take it or leave it but think about it.
by meditation...I think it is the best! but if you want to improve your memory... you should use..mnemonics, mindmaps, note cards, spider diagram, loci method,etc that can improve your short-term memory,,,good luck.
from Deeptish Jeebodhun do one thing at a time to avoid undivided attention and have a deadline for each work doneat the same instant reward yourself;then surely you can booster your power for better concentration
relax and study...make sure dont worry abt anything else while u study !!!
relax, stay calm and feel good while u study !! im sure ur concentration will improve !!!
