Hair toner question

I heard somewhere that instead of buying toner you can use purple dish soap. Is this true?

hair tone what do you mean by hair tone. I know dish soap washes out your hair color && makes your hair dry. But I dont know tonein.

It takes the yellow out of bleached hair.
